Jo Leuenberger

Hey there! I'm Jo Leuenberger (she/they), a writer and art worker. I’m interested in the way media impacts perception of our bodies, particularly in representations of violence and within violent hierarchies. My fiction follows similar lines: girlhood, MENA identity, and the dual humor and humiliation of growing up as a young woman. I am Turkish-American, was raised on the South Shore of Massachusetts, and hold a B.A. with honors from Stanford University. Currently, I'm based between San Francisco and New York.

I run a Substack called Kizmit Carter about art, femininity, diaspora, beauty, and other things I find interesting.

I can help with gallery writing and other art communications. Click 'Contact' to be in touch or request additional samples.
